The Assembly Education Committee has removed Assembly Bill 469 from it’s hearing scheduled for Thursday. This bill would require public school boards to designate school restrooms and changing rooms accessible by multiple students as for the exclusive use of either “males” or “females.” See a previous post for more on this bill. We still expect this bill to have a hearing before the end of the calendar year and will keep you posted.
The remaining bill, Assembly Bill 144, is still scheduled for a hearing Thursday morning. This bill creates an exception to the general prohibition against a public school beginning the school term before September 1 for a school district in which more than 20 percent of the high school students took at least one advanced placement (AP) exam.
